Those holding plumbing inspector jobs inspect and evaluate commercial establishments while they are being constructed, checking whether contractors are using the appropriate pipes. Pipe assemblers must properly fit joints together. Plumbers must use cleaning agents, cement or glue to hold plastic or PVC pipes together with or without water pressure. Meanwhile, they must solder copper pipes together to prevent leaking. It is the plumbing inspector’s job to ensure that all these techniques are employed.
Plumbing inspector jobs also entail the use of special equipment to test the pressure in every pipe size. Should the water pressure be more than what the pipes will allow, a plumbing inspector will order a plumbing rework using correctly-sized pipes.
Upon determination of proper system installation and compliance with state building codes, the plumbing inspector will authorize the resumption of construction and furnish building authorities with a copy of such authorization.
Plumbing inspectors pay periodic visits to public facilities and business establishments to check whether code violations have been committed then relay findings to owners for corrective action.
